Construction Youth Trust welcomes industry support in Wales

On 10th March 2009 the Construction Youth Trust hosted a drinks reception in Wales.  The reception was held at the St David’s Partnership Offices in Southgate House, Wood Street, Cardiff. Guests heard from Norman White, St David’s 2 Deputy Project Director who gave an overview of the St David’s 2 scheme. Guests also hade the opportunity to see the scale model of the project and view the progress of the site and panoramic views of Cardiff from the reception room on the 9th floor.

In 2008 the Forum of the Built Environment (Wales) selected The Trust to be their charity of the year. As a result FOBE raised £9000 for the Trust which has been an invaluable contribution towards the running of the Trust’s projects in Wales. We were delighted that Simon Reynolds from the Forum for the Built Environment joined us on the evening for the presentation.

The Trust also took this opportunity to thank some of the young people for their commitment to the projects and presented them with tool boxes to help them in their future career.

Christine Townley, Director Construction Youth Trust said “The Trust is delighted to have been working with the Forum of the Built Environment and to have been selected to be their charity of the year.  We look forward to developing a long standing relationship with FOBE.”

The Trust’s projects aim to assist young people from deprived communities in South Wales to access introductory training and awareness of construction and encourage them to progress into training and employment in the industry.
