Brand New Construction OCNs to Boost Employment Prospects

Construction Youth Trust has been granted Approved Centre Status by the Open College Network (OCN) to deliver accredited training programmes in construction.

National Open College Network (NOCN) is the leading credit-based awarding body in the UK, offering high quality, flexible, credit-based qualifications and is accredited by the Regulatory Authorities in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Trust is now offering OCN units covering 'Building and Construction' and 'Preparation for Life and Work' which are both brand new and unique to the Trust.

With record levels of youth unemployment these tangible qualifications are suitable for any young person and further the Trust's aim of helping the most disadvantaged to get on the career ladder and progress in their journey to work.

The first accredited courses are being delivered in South Wales with groups of young people starting out with units in Floor and Wall Tiling.

Christine Townley, Director of Construction Youth Trust commented:

"We are delighted to be offering OCN accredited courses as part of our ongoing commitment to provide young people with real-world skills and qualifications.

With ever increasing numbers of young people struggling to find work, providing them with the tools they need to increase their employability couldn't be more relevant."
