Fundraising Event: Celebrating our Three-year Partnership with Canary Wharf Contractors Fund
Three years of partnership: Making a difference with Canary Wharf Contractors Fund ✨
Construction Youth Trust is proud to be a charity partner of Canary Wharf Contractors (CWC) and its dedicated charitable arm, Canary Wharf Contractors Fund (CWCF). We’re taking a moment to reflect on our fantastic, long-standing partnership which continues to flourish.
Our work with CWC involves delivering genuinely meaningful career experiences for young people, such as mentoring and work experience. This gives them a deep insight into roles in the construction industry and helps inform their next career steps. This support is a hugely valuable element of their career journey.
In addition to this, over recent years, CWCF – who share our commitment to supporting disadvantaged young people into meaningful built environment sector careers – have become an integral part of our story with their generous funding. We are one of several charities who benefit from a series of annual fundraising events run by the Fund and, since 2023, they have donated over £75,000 to support our work – we are hugely grateful!
CWCF’s fundraising events are renowned across the industry and are hugely popular. They seem to get bigger and better every year, and 2025 has been outstanding; memories have been made, relationships built and solidified, morale boosted and vital donations raised. Here are some of our highlights from just two of these events:
Held at the prestigious London Golf Club in Kent, this long-running event remains a major highlight for the industry. Over 200 golfers, including clients, subcontractors, and business owners, took part in a shotgun start across two 18-hole courses. This was followed by a gala dinner with fundraising entertainment. It was a great opportunity for the company’s partners get to know each other in a less formal setting, enjoying a beautiful course, all while supporting charities that make a tangible difference in the community.
Held at the Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre, this year’s Dragon Boat Race brought together 30 enthusiastic teams. For the first time ever, this included a crew made up of representatives from all 10 charities supported by CWCF, including Construction Youth Trust! We were delighted with this opportunity to get involved, building bonds and making memories on the water with CWCF and their partners. 🌊
These events raise vital funds for our work, which will go towards our core mission of supporting disadvantaged young people to access and thrive in their careers. We would like to make a special thanks to everyone involved in organising and supporting these events, as well as the truly generous individuals who chose to donate.
We’re so grateful to Canary Wharf Contractors Fund for supporting our charity with their incredible fundraising activities. Their support, alongside the on-the-ground support we receive from Canary Wharf Contractors, enables us to empower young people to overcome barriers and build the skills, confidence, and networks they need to pursue exciting careers in the industry we’re all passionate about. In 2024 alone, their backing enabled us to work with over 60 local schools, connect young people to more than 1,100 industry volunteers, and, through our immersive coaching programmes, support 92% of participants into positive career outcomes such as apprenticeships.
As our reach continues to grow, supporting hundreds of young people every year into meaningful next steps, partnerships like these are a fantastic example of what can be achieved when the built environment and charity sectors come together. 🤝
Thank you, Canary Wharf Contractors Fund, for your amazing support!
