07/09/2022Lambeth residents join our month-long programme, getting stuck into a range of practical activities, site visits, employability sessions - and most...
This summer, the Lambeth Made Contractor’s Challenge, delivered by Construction Youth Trust in partnership with Lambeth Council, has continued to bring opportunities for young people long after it’s finish.
As part of a series of activities during the programme, volunteers from sub-contractor Lee Marley Brickwork delivered mock interview sessions with young people at a Berkeley Group site in Oval. Two of the young participating impressed the volunteers from Lee Marley Brickwork to such an extent that they were invited to take part in bricklaying work trials later in the year.
With the support of Construction Youth Trust, the two young people who were put forward for the work trials are currently in the process of completing them with a view to entering employment. So far, they have been relishing the experience and are making the most of working with other professional bricklayers on site.
Having female employees from Lee Marley leading the sessions is also such an inspiration for the young people, showing them there are roles for everyone in construction! - Programme Manager, Construction Youth Trust
We wish the young people the best of luck in their work trials and hope that we are able to facilitate further opportunities for young people to try out new skills in the future.
