Steven has begun as a Site Operative with Willmott Dixon Interiors having recently completed their Changing Lives Programme.
Steven was first referred to the Trust by a trusted referral agency based in Romford. At the time he was NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training and struggling to find meaningful employment.
Steven was very keen to begin the course as it gave him the opportunity to learn basic painting & decorating skills as well as work towards his CSCS card. Steven showed a great attitude whilst on the programme, impressing his tutor with his practical skills considering his limited experience.
He proved himself to be a punctual, hard-working individual; highlighted in him completing the Level 1 Health and Safety award as well as passing his CSCS test first time around.
Upon completion of the course, Steven stayed in regular contact with staff at Construction Youth Trust and was always keen to hear about the potential work experience opportunites.
He was rewarded for his persistence when he was invited down to an interview to be part of the Willmott Dixon Interiors Changing Lives programme. This involved taking part in the renovation of the Trust’s Construction Training Centre where Steven first began his journey.
Steven was keen to prove himself in a working environment having previously excelled in the classroom; and he was able to replicate on site all the qualities that he had brought to his training.
With Willmott Dixon Interiors he completed in Asbestos Awareness, Fire Marshall and First Aid training before getting stuck in to work on site including carpentry, labouring and painting & decorating.
After the fantastic results of the Changing Lives Programme Steven was offered a full time position with Willmott Dixon as a Site Operative. This opportunity that was fully deserved thanks to his productiveness and dedication which shone through to all the Willmott Dixon employees that worked with Steven.
