Laing O Rourke volunteers help set up our new Bermondsey Training Centre

On Tuesday 24th March, we welcomed 7 volunteers from Laing O’Rourke to our new training centre in Bermondsey. The centre, due to open in April, will offer longer courses in trade skills to young people, such as plastering, painting & decorating, bricklaying and joinery. The volunteers work on the Elephant Road regeneration project in Elephant and Castle and wanted to donate their time to a local project and so joined Construction Youth Trust for the day to help us set up the centre ahead of it’s launch on 17th April. The volunteers came from a range of professions, from procurement and logistics management to mechanical and electrical. Over the course of the day they built several stud wall frameworks from timber. Each frame accommodates four students and once assembled, can be used again and again. The next stage is for the frames to be hung with plaster board and used in our plastering courses when the centre opens in April. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers.
