In 2020 LABC President Anthony Oloyede chose the Trust as his presidential charity. Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic put an unfortunate stop to many of our joint plans, we want to thank Anthony for his unwavering support throughout the pandemic and raising over £5,400 for The Trust.
Throughout our partnership, Anthony has volunteered across our programme delivery and been an incredible inspiration to many of the young people we work with. A particular highlight was Anthony’s participation on one of our Budding Builders programmes, where Anthony discovered he shared common ground with a number of the young people who were inspired by his passion for the sector and dedication to hard work. We are also thrilled to have Anthony onboard as part of our first ever cohort of industry mentors!
Anthony is a huge advocate of the importance relatable role models can play in the career aspirations of young people. Through our #BuildingAspirations partnership campaign we aimed to raise awareness of the role industry professionals play in inspiring young people about the world of work. Despite the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic created for the campaign, Anthony inspired the LABC membership to support the work of the Trust in other imaginative ways. The LABC virtual Christmas quiz, brought together teams from around the country to compete for festive glory whilst also raising money for the Trust. The Construction Youth Trust team thoroughly enjoyed the evening!
Most recently Anthony has been a man on a mission and set himself to training for 3 separate unique Presidential Charity Challenges: the daunting three peaks, an inspiring 100-mile Peak district bike ride and a Tough Mudder. On the 21st of September, Anthony completed not 1, not 2 but ALL 3 of his testing challenges and has raised over £5,400 for the Trust. We are incredibly thankful to Anthony for his generous support of the Trust and are in awe of the lengths he is willing to push himself for a good cause!
We were honored to be Anthony’s LABC Presidential Charity and look forward to continuing to work together to inspire and support all young people to reach their full career potential.
