Our online Level 1 Health & Safety and CSCS card course isn’t just about attaining entry level qualifications, it’s about opening up a young person’s experiences and career opportunities.
Our current cohort is made up largely of Year 11 and 13 students from Pimlico Academy and Harris Academy St John’s Wood who are on the cusp of taking the next steps in their career journey.
In order to give an insight into a range of construction careers, alongside learning and revision for industry-recognised qualifications, our Level 1 sessions have been supported by a diverse range of volunteers who attended to give an insight into the realities of their roles onsite.
Participants also had the opportunity to take part in a virtual site tour of Sir Robert McAlpine’s Battersea Power Station project, really bringing to life the theory of the students’ health and safety learning.
For our young people, the course is a springboard into more opportunities with the Trust’s employer partners. With their CSCS cards secured, our young people are able to take part in practical work experience placements with partners such as Bouygues and immerse themselves in site-based roles, putting their health & safety learning into practice!
The qualifications also mean that our young people are primed and ready to jump into new employment opportunities. Our Live Vacancies sessions introduce our young people directly to employers and their current opportunities, covering a whole range of employment from entry level positions to degree apprenticeships. The sessions are a great opportunity for employers to meet our young people, safe in the knowledge that they are discovering diverse future talent with the skills and qualifications to become valued employees and colleagues.
Soon we will be delivering a rolling schedule of our Level 1 Health & Safety and CSCS card course and we look forward to continuing to support young people with passion for construction careers!
