We are delighted to announce that we are one of two winners of a Wates Family Enterprise Trust Thinking Different Award for 2023.
The Thinking Differently Award is a scheme created by the Wates Family Enterprise Trust to support charities like Construction Youth Trust to develop new ways of doing things, such as creating a programme that is strategically different. The Wates Family Enterprise Trust, an independent charitable trust set up by the family owners of the Wates Group, will provide funding for the initiative, whilst we will receive generous in-kind support from Wates Group employees.
With this generous support, we will work in partnership with employers in the construction industry, such as Wates Group, on a project that makes it possible for us to focus directly on issues facing both young people and the construction and built environment industry.
The new initiative will enable us to consult with young people to explore the hidden and unintended barriers that prevent those from disadvantaged and under-represented groups from entering and succeeding in construction careers. Working closely with construction employers, we hope to achieve a real shift in how the industry attracts, recruits and retains young people from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.
