We are excited to announce a brand new addition to our programmes - Industry Mentoring!
We are piloting this exciting new initiative as part of our employability programme in partnership with Greater London Authority’s Workforce Integration Network. Our mentoring programme will bridge the gap between industry professionals and the next generation of construction and built environment talent!
Over 50 year 13 and college students across London are taking part in our pilot 12 week programme, starting this month and ending in February 2022. It has been wonderful to see the passion of the industry to inspire young people, and we have already welcomed over 40 industry mentors to our mentor induction sessions over October!
In partnership with the online mentoring platform Brightside, mentors will be paired up with up to 5 young people at one of our partner schools. Through the platform’s mentor matching tool, mentees will be able to choose a mentor that they feel is most compatible with their career ambitions and interests. Each week, mentees will have the opportunity to ask questions based on a weekly theme and gain industry guidance from their mentors.
Ranging from Quantity Surveyors to Construction Solicitors, our goal has been to recruit a diverse and relatable range of industry professionals to support our budding young professionals. The aim of the programme is to help young people develop the tools and confidence to negotiate important decisions about their future and enter the world of work. For our mentors, the programme is an inspiring opportunity to share their knowledge with the next generation and support them to discover rewarding careers.
It is our hope to build upon this first pilot programme and include industry mentoring as an integral part of our programmes, offering young people direct access to the industry!
