Building Better Futures with Balfour Beatty!

The Building Better Futures Project challenges graduates working at Balfour Beatty to positively give back and empower the next generation.

We were delighted when we were approached to work in partnership with a group of graduates from Balfour Beatty on their project and support them to create an inspiring session shaped around their own unique journeys into industry careers.

The group of 9 graduates are pursuing careers in a diverse range of roles from procurement to finance to site engineer. Whilst they are all university graduates, their routes to attaining their degrees have been varied, overcoming obstacles and discovering career paths they never imagined they would follow!

The group were inspired to develop an engaging construction and built environment careers session as they want to enable other young people to discover the incredible opportunities our sector has to offer. From their own experiences, they know that more needs to be done to persuade young people that the sector offers aspirational careers.

Through an interactive session at one of our partner schools, the graduates gave an insight into their different roles with a good old game of 'Match the Grad to the Job Role' to help break down stereotypes. The grads are currently working on a variety of projects so zoomed into the session from an incredible variety of locations. In a memorable practice session we even had people calling in direct from site!

We worked together as a team to design an informative & engaging session for the students. We wanted to interact with the students and show our passion for the Construction industry and why we think Balfour Beatty is the perfect place to begin your career. The session allows our talented Graduates to talk through their role within Balfour Beatty and how young people can enter the industry. The best bit about the session was that students realised that Procurement & Finance professionals have a part to play within a Construction Company! Harsh Bhatia, Procurement Graduate

We want to thank the graduates for all their hard work in creating such an inspiring session. It has been a pleasure to collaborate on your session and we can’t wait to hear about how you continue to engage and inspire the next generation of industry talent!
