We are delighted to announce that we have joined forces with British Land, United St Saviour’s Charity and Southwark Construction Skills Centre to create Shaping Southwark’s Future.
Over the next ten years the construction and built environment industry will be investing a huge amount of time and money in Southwark creating numerous job, skills and career development opportunities within the area. As a partnership we want to ensure that the young people of Southwark benefit directly from these opportunities.
However, the only way they will be able to capitalise on the regeneration of their area is if they are made aware of available opportunities and if they feel inspired to pursue a career in the construction and built environment sector.
To be able to engage the widest range of young people possible, Shaping Southwark’s Future have formed partnerships with local schools, organisations and referral partners. We offer construction and the built environment led engagements and courses within schools and in the local community, prioritising working with those young people who are not currently, or are at risk of not being, in education, employment or training. We believe that the construction and built environment has a great capacity to facilitate social mobility and we want the young people of Southwark to be part of the development of their borough, to feel included by industry rather than watching from the side lines.
We want to help the young people of Southwark to recognise their full career potential and to discover opportunities in the construction and built environment that have never previously been presented to them but are now available to them in their own local area.
