The Trust is leading recuitment for apprenticeships for those aged 16-18 interested in Engineering.
The Trust has recently been funded by the National Apprenticeship Service, Transport for London, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to recruit 60 candidates for at least 30 Advanced Technician Apprenticeships in Civil or Building Services Engineering. The placements are being provided by 28 engineering consultancy practices and construction companies.
This is an opportunity for students aged 16-18 to earn while they learn, spending 4 days per week working at a leading industry employer and 1 day a week in college. Apprentices will benefit from a competitive starting salary, and if suitable following completion of the course will have the opportunity to continue a work based route to Chartered Engineer status.
The scheme is being launched on March 2nd 2013 at the Building Centre in London. All who attend the launch will be guaranteed an interview for an apprenticeship. To sign up for the event or find out more follow this link.
This new scheme will be run through the Trust’s Budding Brunels engagement programme. The Trust will working closely with schools and other agencies in delivering outreach across London, increasing awareness amongst candidates from ethnic and gender groups currently under-represented in the construction industry professions. Following the recruitment stage, the Trust will lead a series of industry awareness and employability events to increase candidates' chances of succeeding at interview. Successful applicants will commence their apprenticeships in September 2013.
