Are we doing enough to help women into the construction industry?

Women currently only make up 9% of the industry's workforce and it is important that we do more to welcome into careers in the built environment in the future and ensure this percentage rises.

Although not every role in the trades will appeal to women it is important that we give them access to a range of different jobs and ensure they are aware of the opportunities the industry offer. By not doing so we are missing out on some potential stars and young women are missing out on what could be exciting careers for them.

Free Decorating Courses for Young Women Launch in Islington

Exciting new courses to teach skills in painting and decorating to young women have launched in Islington this November.

Open to young women aged 13-19, these courses are delivered through a number of painting and decorating workshops held in different youth centres across the borough. Participants can take away the step-by-step knowledge needed to decorate their own bedroom, and try their hand at a variety of fun and engaging painting techniques during the sessions.
