Budding Builders; an Outsider's Perspective

Over the last couple of weeks, as a part of my internship at Construction Youth Trust, I have had the privilege of helping out at their training centre in Bermondsey assisting on one of their, Budding Builders programmes.

The course is geared towards young men and women in the London area who wish to gain their Health and Safety Level One qualification, and a CSCS card which enables them to gain employment on a building site.

Budding Builders Case Study: Jacob

26 year old Jacob was referred on to a Construction Youth Trust Budding Builders course in September 2015, which took place at our Bermondsey training centre. Before attending this course Jacob was seeking training or work opportunities, with the help of Southwark Works who referred him onto our carpentry course.

Six students successfully complete a three week Budding Builders course

Staff at Construction Youth Trust were delighted to congratulate six students upon their completion of our three week course.

Six students were presented with certificates upon their completion of Construction Youth Trust’s three week Budding Builders Construction Multiskills programme. All six of them achieved an Entry Level 3 OCN London accredited qualification in Health and Safety. Construction Youth Trust offers Taster Session to young people in the community

The Trust opened the doors of its training centre in Bermondsey, South London to young people interested in a career in construction.

Seven young people took part in a construction taster activity at the Trust’s Training Centre in Bermondsey. The prospective students were referred onto the session by a variety of different organisations, including Hobbit House School, Southwark Travellers Action Group, JobCentre Plus and Southwark Youth Offending Service. 2015 Highlights

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on some of our highlights from 2015.

From all of us at Construction Youth Trust, we would like to wish all our supporters a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been a fantastic year, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We have achieved so much this year and have helped to educate, train and inspire many young people about careers in the construction industry. Routes Into Construction apprenticeship success with WJ

After completing a two week work experience placement with WJ, Ryan Weston has been offered a road marking apprenticeship.

After four weeks of training, three Camden women have successfully completed a Budding Builders Carpentry course. Nine students were presented with certificates upon their completion of Construction Youth Trust’s four week Budding Builders Painting and Decorating course.
