How it works
The Mobile Classroom is a bold and exciting initiative to deliver construction-related training and careers advice to young people in local communities.
It introduces them to training, work experience and careers in a fresh new way so that young people can come to understand the job opportunities available to them. The classroom is a vehicle which delivers tools, materials and a trainer into hard to reach communities giving them the opportunity to try out the different elements of construction. They can take part in sessions ranging from carpentry, tiling and plumbing to painting and decorating and health and safety.
Pink Ladies is a construction course delivered from the Mobile Classroom, aimed only at women. It helps young women understand that construction also holds opportunities for them and removes barriers for young women to enter the construction industry.
The Mobile Classroom programme introduces construction to young people who may not have been exposed to work-related skills training before and gives them a unique chance to find out about the wide range of job opportunities available within the industry.
"It's nice to have something portable as not all communities have these kinds of facilities". Thanjina
