Sir Michael is author of the highly influential joint government/industry report Constructing the Team (1994). He is chairman of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Construction Skills Sector Council, non-executive deputy chairman of Willmott Dixon and non executive chairman of E C Harris Public Sector Executive and the Collaborative Working Centre (UK). He is consultant on partnering and best practice to Inspace and is president of the European Construction Institute. In 2004 he chaired the government's enquiry into the working of the 1996 Construction Act and in addition, is chairman of several national organisations concerned with the construction industry.
