Real Apprentice to Feature on BBC Radio 4

Construction Youth Trust's award winning Real Apprentice scheme is to feature in the upcoming BBC Radio 4 programme The Real Apprentice.

Journalist Jon Manel reports on the Construction Youth Trust programme that saw seven unemployed young people who weren't in education or employment participate in training, redeveloping two flats in their local community.  The programme's winner Craig Simpson went on to successfully gain a two-year plumbing apprenticeship with Newport City Homes and the other participant s also secured employment as a result of the initiative.

As well as hearing about The Real Apprentice participant's experiences of trying to find work, Jon also explores apprenticeships over the centuries and speaks to a manager in Port Talbot who is still with his company nearly 40 years after her joined as an apprentice.
