Construction Youth Trust shortlisted for the 2015 Housing Excellence Awards

CentrePoint

We are delighted to announce that Construction Youth Trust & CentrePoint have been shortlisted for ‘Best Partnering Scheme' at the 2015 Housing Excellence Awards. In 2014 the Trust, in partnership with Camden Council and CentrePoint Charity for the Homeless, delivered a practical community project in Camden. The aim of the project was to engage 15 young homeless people aged 16-15 of which 10 were not native English speakers, to work towards the refurbishment of Oak House CentrePoint hostel. Over the course of 4 weeks young people learnt practical construction skills in carpentry, painting and decorating and health and safety and obtain Level 1 qualifications accredited by the Open College Network as well as CSCS health and safety cards. As many of the learners lived in the hostel the project fostered a real sense of commitment and achievement.

Widely recognised as the ‘industry event’ of the year, The Housing Excellence Awards is the largest awards dinner in the UK social housing sector, attracting audiences of 600+ of the sectors key leaders and serves to highlight the organisations, individuals & projects that are leading the way in affordable housing.

The 2015 winners will be decided by an independent panel of industry experts and announced at the annual gala dinner on Wednesday May 6th, when housing’s elite will converge on Lancashire’s County Cricket Ground to enjoy an evening of awards, networking and entertainment.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and fingers crossed for the awards in May!
