Construction Trainer South Wales

Location - Across South Wales.  Occasional projects may sometimes require UK travel further afield.  Office base: Ty Ffederasiwn, 66 Cardiff Road, Glan-Y-Llyn, Cardiff CF15 7QE 

The Construction Youth Trust is an award-winning charity that works to remove barriers faced by young people entering the construction industry. We are looking for an experienced construction trainer to be jointly responsible for delivery and promotion of construction training in South Wales, with occasional need for travel within the UK.  This is an excellent opportunity for a ‘can do’ individual to work in our small dynamic team.

Construction experience is essential, along with a full qualification in a trade, experience in working with young people, and a positive, patient and professional attitude. We can provide training in other skills to the right candidate if necessary.

Main duties and responsibilites:

      • Working closely with the Wales Manager and Curriculum Coordinator to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate construction training sessions
      • Deliver construction training to young people from diverse backgrounds, at a pace to suit varied levels of ability and learning styles
      • Develop and implement learning strategies to inspire and enable participants to overcome learning barriers and increase self confidence, motivation and aspirations for the future
      • Register participants, monitor and evaluate training sessions and provide progress reports and relevant paperwork.
      • Work closely with the team and partners to source training participants by implementing outreach strategies to promote the project sessions and recruit participants.
      • Engage and work closely with partners and community organisations in order to effectively prepare and deliver the training sessions
      • Actively promote the services of the mobile classroom in order to generate new and returning business
      • Work with volunteers who support training delivery
      • Undertake any other related duties as requested by the Manager
      • Play an active part in the Construction Youth Trust’s responsibility for safeguarding young people and ensuring good health, safety and welfare practice in our work

    An enhanced CRB is essential for the role.
