Awareness

The construction industry suffers from a lack of exposure at critical times during a young person's decision making.

The Trust is fully committed to encouraging young people into the industry and actively promotes this.

In doing so, the Trust facilitates effective communication between industry and education establishments about the type of skills employers are looking for.

This aspect of the Trust's work offers a wide range of activities, including:

Mobile classrooms in South Wales and the North West offer taster sessions in the trades to young people interested in a career in that sector

Budding Brunels, a programme for 6th formers in the five host 2012 boroughs [Greenwich, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Waltham Forest link to host boroughs info], introducing them to the built environment professions through site visits and awareness raising sessions from industry professionals.

Capital Xperience provides paid summer work placements for A-level students to encourage them to follow a career in construction professions.

The Community Engagement programme works with the industry to provide students with week long site placements in order to experience both micro and macro elements of project-based work in construction companies.
